Building set lists can be tricky, especially when it comes to confirming song keys with lead vocalists and balancing our set lists with new, familiar, and well-established songs. That’s where I hope this tool will come in handy for us and makes this process a whole lot easier and more accessible even for those who don’t have as much experience with set lists.

With this song database, we can track information such as:

• When a song was introduced to our congregation
• Whether a song is new, familiar, established, or a classic
• Which keys we have previously done a song in
• The range of each song key (soprano, alto, tenor, etc.)
• Who has previously lead songs in specific keys
• Song themes (praise, worship, freedom, victory, grace, and many more!)
• Song energy level (upbeat, moderate, calm)

With this information, we can also filter our song list in very helpful ways, for example:

• Songs in the key of D, in a ‘Soprano’ range
• Songs previously lead by [vocalist], in the key of G
• ‘New’ songs that are upbeat
• ‘Established’ songs with a ‘Victory’ theme

This will make creating set lists much easier, quicker, and will help us balance out the familiarity of our set lists and create a stronger blend of new, familiar, and well-established songs.
